Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Campaign Team, has dismissed claims that the peace pact signed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants contained any errors.

According to him, the disagreement that occurred during the signing ceremony was unnecessary and did not result from a mistake in the document.

Mr. Aboagye explained that the Presidential Elections Committee shared copies of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with all aspirants on Sunday, January 18, 2026, ahead of the ceremony. He added that the contents of the document were therefore known to all candidates before they signed it.

He said the issue arose when Kennedy Ohene Agyapong objected to Clause 2 of the MoU, which requires all aspirants to accept the results of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026, regardless of the outcome.

Mr. Aboagye stated that Mr. Agyapong requested that the clause be removed or changed, but the Presidential Elections Committee refused, describing it as the most important part of the agreement.

“There was no error in the peace pact. The disagreement was simply about the request to remove a key clause on accepting the results,” he said.

The comments follow scenes at the peace pact signing on Thursday, January 22, 2026, which sparked public speculation that the document presented was different from what had earlier been agreed.

However, Mr. Aboagye insisted that the document was consistent with what had been circulated and that the controversy was avoidable.
