Majority of Ghanaians Optimistic, But Expect Results from Prez Mahama’s Government – Poll

A new national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows that most Ghanaians believe the country is heading in the right direction, signaling strong public optimism paired with high expectations for tangible government performance.

Conducted between December 1 and December 21, 2025, the survey reveals that 66 per cent of voters feel Ghana is moving on the right path, while 24 per cent think the country is going in the wrong direction. About 10 per cent of respondents had no opinion. The findings indicate that this positive outlook is shared across all 16 regions, including areas traditionally aligned with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On presidential performance, President John Dramani Mahama maintains a 67 per cent approval rating, unchanged from the previous quarter. Disapproval rose slightly to 24 per cent, reflecting a portion of the population keeping a close eye on government actions.

The poll also shows sharp partisan divides: 93 per cent of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters approve of the President’s performance, compared with only 28 per cent of NPP supporters, 61 per cent of whom disapprove. Among floating voters, 69 per cent approve, underlining the importance of performance over party loyalty.

Analysts say the survey highlights not only confidence in leadership but also citizens’ expectations for visible improvements in areas such as economic stability, job creation, efficient public services, and transparency in governance.

Overall, while optimism remains high, Ghanaians are watching closely, and their continued trust will depend on the government delivering results that match these expectations.

The survey, titled “National Tracking Poll: Governance and Performance – Part One,” was presented on December 29, 2025, by Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director Mussa K. Dankwah, and involved 13,495 respondents across 83 constituencies, with a 99 per cent confidence level and a ±1.1 per cent margin of error.
