Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has been elected as the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture.

Her election places Ghana at the forefront of continental discussions on policies and programmes that affect young people, sports development and cultural growth across Africa.

As Chair, Madam Gomashie is expected to steer engagements among AU member states, promote youth empowerment initiatives, strengthen cultural cooperation and encourage the use of sports as a tool for development and unity on the continent.

The appointment also reflects confidence in her experience in the creative arts sector and her long-standing involvement in cultural advocacy and governance.

Her leadership role is expected to enhance collaboration among African countries while advancing policies that support innovation, heritage preservation and opportunities for the youth.
